Diversity Awards and Rethink Pilot Training
Rethink was honored at the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs' 2012 Diversity Awards, where we received the 2012 Diversity Award for Student Organization.
In 2012, Rethink was awarded the Diversity Award for Student Organization by the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs. Then Chancellor Holden Thorp presented us with the award.
Mental Health Awareness Events
Throughout our first academic year on campus, Rethink held several awareness events on campus, such as a book signing and presentation by Dr. Randi Davenport, a chalk out of positive messages on campus, and an event on Crisis Intervention Teams. We also had events to learn about mental illnesses, with guest speakers such as Dr. Gary Duncan, and visits to the Brushes with Life Exhibit and Club Nova.
Club Nova is a psychosocial rehabilitation center in Carrboro, North Carolina. We spent the day hosting a Bingo social for the members.
Dr. Randi Davenport presented her book "The Boy Who Loved Tornadoes." It tells her family's story of overcoming mental illness.
Autism Outreach co-hosted the event with us.
Dr. Duncan spoke to us about the brain.
Conquering the Vermonster
Rethink conquered the Vermonster at Ben and Jerry's and bonded over ice cream.
